How to contact us...
My child is looking for a Saturday job - are there any rules about how many hours they can work?
Yes, details of the age a child can work, the number of hours they can do and the type of work they are allowed to do are all stated in the Kirklees Local Byelaws.
I want to employ a child in my shop on a Saturday and during the school holidays - how do I apply for a permit for them?
You need to complete an application form. These are available from the Attendance and Pupil Supprt and Kirklees Information Points.
Alternatively,
you can download
and print the application form (PDF 60Kb)
There is a section on the application form that should be completed by the
child's parent/guardian to confirm that they give their consent for the
child to be employed.
I am concerned about a
child who is working at 5.30 am every morning doing a milk round - are children
allowed to work this early in a morning?
No, children of school age are not permitted to work before 7am or after
7pm. If you would like to give us some details, we will ask our Employment
Office to look into this.
