Kirklees Healthy Choice Award
Michelle France - February 2009
environmental.health@kirklees.gov.uk
The Kirklees Healthy Choice Award is a partnership initiative between Kirklees Council and Kirklees NHS(PCT). It also incorporates the Five-A-Day Campaign.
About the Healthy Choice Award
The award is a way of rewarding businesses that practice good standards of food hygiene, offer healthy food
options and encourage a smoke free environment (there are some exemptions under the smokefree legislation (care homes and childminders etc.)).
The award is open to all businesses selling/providing food, for example catering outlets, supermarkets,
sandwich shops, takeaways, restaurants, cafes, schools, nurseries, public houses, hotels, clubs, canteens, care homes and childminders etc.
We are now able to offer the award to Fastfood outlets/takeaways if they are able to demonstrate they offer some healthier options on their menu as an alternative to the traditional fast food they serve. Please email env.foodsafety@kirklees.gov.uk if you would like further information
The council believes that are there a number of food businesses in the district that provide and maintain a high
standard of food safety and deserve to be recognised for their efforts.
If you would like to see if your business is eligible you can view the assessment criteria then apply by filling
in a downloadable application form(PDF 35kb), and posting it to us, alternatively you can email
environmental.health@kirklees.gov.uk
and we will post you a pack with criteria/application form.
