The majority of memorials and monuments were created and built after the First World War, which ended on 11th November 1918. The actual date of the formal ending of World War One was on 28th June 1919, with The Treaty of Versailles. This is the reason why certain memorials have the war listed as 1914 - 1918 and some have it listed as 1914 - 1919.
These memorials and monuments list the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, not only in World War One and World War Two, but also in the Boer War, the Korean War, the Falklands, the present war in Iraq and other conflicts throughout the world.
