Yorkshire Childrens Centre / Batley Resource Centre

Description

  1. Batley Resource Centre provides facilities, access to information and services in Batley and its surrounding areas for older people who might otherwise be isolated or lonely.

Our befriending service aims to prevent people feeling isolated or lonely. Our volunteer befrienders make a huge impact on isolated elderly people by visiting them in their home for company and conversation, sometimes they play board games or just have a cup of tea and chat.

Travel Companions are volunteers who offer their time to accompany clients to appointments, such as hospital visits, or even social groups. They may drive a client in their own car,go with them in a taxi, on the bus or walk. They offer company and friendship, not just a lift.

Open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm.

Our luncheon group meets at Batley Old People's Centre every Thursday 11.30am to 1.30pm. Cost £4. Please contact us to book.

Our building is home to a number of like-minded organisations including Yorkshire Rose Talking Therapies, Willow Counselling Services, RVS, REAL Employment, Age UK & also Studio 116 & Sharpes Engraving.

We also manage bookings on behalf of Batley Older People's Centre on Upper Commercial Street.

Other groups may use the centre for meetings or events. We offer fully managed office space, reprographics, drop in and counselling space, meeting room facilities, community group activities, a place for caring groups to meet.

Batley Resource Centre is now part of Yorkshire Children's Centre - please see our website for more information.
