About the venue

  1. Services:
    As well as the traditional library service, including a self issue machine and free use of public access computers and internet, our friendly staff also provide advice and guidance on a variety of other Council services.

    • Free Computer and Internet use
    • Colour photocopying, printing and fax

    • Help with all Council Services e.g bins,
    parking permits, housing, noise issues
    • Help filling out forms
    • Kirklees passports issued
    • Voting Registration forms
    • Free School meals forms issued and received
    • Choose and Move (Kirklees Housing)
    • Council Tax and Housing Benefit Forms filled in and proofs scanned directly to the benefits department
    • Free phone to the Council

    • Volunteering opportunities and information
    • Bus and train timetables and forms

    • Basic IT sessions can be booked
    • We will help to set up other groups as required eg reading groups, library coffee mornings etc Please come and ask.

    Regular Activities:

    Mondays

    Greenwood Craft Group 10.30am to 12.30pm come along to our friendly group who meet to share their skills and try new crafts together. New members welcome.

    MP Simon Reevell Public Surgery 9.30-11.30 am om Mondays 7th April, 7th July, 1st Sept. 3rd November 2014
    A surgery is a one-to-one meeting where a constituent may raise issues of local concern and seek the intervention of their MP. The issues may relate to local issues (street crime, litter, a request for intervention by the MP on behalf of the constituent with local or national government) or it could deal with national policy matters

    Tuesdays

    Step by Step - 11.30am to 1pm a free weekly drop in session offering advice on training, volunteering, and helping you into work.

    Careers Service Advisor is available at the centre on Tuesday afternoons by appointment. In -depth careers advice including skills, job choices and training. To book phone 01484 226809 and ask for an appointment at the Greenwood centre.

    Wednesdays

    Basic IT help sessions from the library 10-1pm. Please book.

    Thursdays

    Neighbourhood Policing Team Contact Point 2pm to 4pm to discuss any local issues, problems or suggestions you may have no matter how big or small. Drop in.

    Connexions: careers advice for 16-18yrs. Appointments are available on Thursday afternoons. Please ask at the library.

    Saturdays
    Young Leaders Volunteering Project for aged 13+ 1pm to 4pm
    Activity sessions for 8 to 13 years 2.30pm to 4pm (for more information contact 01924 324588)

    Rooms for hire:
    Community rooms for hire. The centre is run by Kirklees Council and bookings are managed through the Community Buildings Bookings Team. Please contact them for details of prices and more information.

    The Children's Centre:
    Our partner service, the Children's Centre, delivers a range of services including Health, Education, Family Support and Community Work through which they aim to support families in the area especially those with children under 5 years of age. Please contact them to find out about the wide range of activities and help that they offer.
