Community First Golcar

What we're doing

Community First is an £80m government-funded initiative that will run for four years, until March 2015. The programme will help communities come together to identify their strengths and local priorities in order to plan for their future and become more resilient. It will fund both new and existing community groups. I will be supporting the Golcar Community to establish and run their own Community First Panel

£33,910 of Community First Funding will be available in Golcar .
Residents of the Golcar area will need to establish their own Community First Panel. The panel will be made up of representatives from the Community, Voluntary and public sector.
The panel will work with their community to produce a Community First Plan and recommend projects/activities to be funded in their ward.
The panel will identify a Panel Partner who will support the panel ensuring that the panel is accountable and transparent.

What happened?

The Community First Panel have now set their priorities and will be developing a website shortly.
The panel will then publish deadlines for applications for funding for local community organisations and voluntary groups to be able to apply for.
The panel will recommend projects for funding and keep people informed of their progress through the website.

What difference did the work make?

The Community First Panel for Golcar has made its first Grant recommendations benefitting the people of Golcar Ward.
They will be holding panel meetings and making grant decisions during the remainder of this project.

The panel have been able to support local people to take action in their own community and those groups in receipt of grants will update the panel on the outcomes and impact of their projects.
