The Respect Standard

housing@knh.org.uk

KNH was one of the first housing providers to sign up to the government's Respect Standard for Housing Management.

That means we are pledged to maintain a high standard in dealing, in particular, with anti-social behaviour and taking care of victims and witnesses.

One of our residents was a finalist in the national Respect Standard 'Taking a Stand' awards during 2007.

We are keen to ensure that problems are dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible. To do that, we carry out problem solving training for a wide range of groups, together with joint training for our staff with the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams. During 2008 we hope to extend that training to include local mental health teams.

Also during 2008 we are introducing a number of new initiatives under the Respect agenda aimed at strengthening the way we deal with anti-social behaviour, including better support for victims and witnesses.

We are constantly seeking ways to improve the physical security on our estates and are in the process of upgrading and expanding our existing CCTV and concierge systems.

We also subscribe to a covert surveillance service, which, in some circumstances, allows us to gather evidence for court without involving witnesses who may be in fear of the perpetrator.

Our aim is to provide a first class quality service to our tenants and residents and we will continue to use innovative solutions in tackling problems and dealing with those who have no respect for others.
