Go fish

The Outdoor Dewsbury Festival is giving people the chance to get involved in one of the most popular pastimes – fishing.

For those who fancy going fishing but have never tried, there is a series of beginners sessions being held at Savile Town Wharf, Mil Street East, Dewsbury, on Monday, August 2.

The half hour sessions, taken by experienced fishermen, are free and will introduce participants to coarse fishing and will learn them how to prepare rods and bait, and how to catch and release fish.

All equipment is provided and people can take part in more than one session. Sessions will run every half hour from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 3pm.

To book places please contact Ann Williams on 01484 234018 (Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm).

The nine-day 'Outdoor Dewsbury Festival' runs from Saturday, July 29, to Sunday, August 8. It is being funded by Dewsbury Area Committee to launch 'Outdoor Dewsbury', a long-term project to get people outdoors and active, and enjoying the countryside, parks and green spaces on their doorstep in Dewsbury.
