Free watercolour workshop at Dewsbury Festival

Budding artists can have a brush with one of the country’s leading and most successful landscape water colourists in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury , on Thursday, August 5.

As part of the Outdoor Dewsbury Festival, Ashley Jackson will be running a free watercolour workshop starting at 12.30pm. He will be demonstrating different techniques and how best to capture the local environment.

Ashley opened his first gallery in 1963 and his paintings of brooding moorlands, in particular the moors above and around his gallery in Holmfirth, have become synonymous with Yorkshire. He has had several series of ‘A Brush with Ashley’ on television as well as numerous books published.

He is passionate about encouraging people to take up art and appreciate the natural beauty around us.

Participants should meet outside the café in Crow Nest Park, Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury.

For more information please contact Ann Williams on 01484 234018 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).

The nine-day 'Outdoor Dewsbury Festival' runs from Saturday, July 29, to Sunday, August 8. It is being funded by Dewsbury Area Committee to launch 'Outdoor Dewsbury', a long-term initiative to get people outdoors and active, and enjoying the countryside, parks and green spaces on their doorstep in Dewsbury.
