Workshop in using natural dyes - August 2

As part of the ‘Outdoor Dewsbury Festival’ families can learn how to make natural dyes using locally found plants.

A dyeing workshop is being held in Crow Nest Park, Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury, on Monday, August 2. Using plants picked from the park, participants will learn how to prepare dye and use it to dye fabrics.

The technique creates a unique result and so learning the process is ideal for anyone interested in working with fabric; however, the activity is suitable for anyone over the age of 7, although under 16s have to be supervised by an adult.

There are two sessions: 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm. The workshop is free of charge but places must be booked.

For more information or to book places, contact Ann Williams on 01484 234018 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm). Participants should meet outside Dewsbury Museum.

The 'Outdoor Dewsbury Festival', which runs from Saturday, July 31, to Sunday, August 8, is being funded by Dewsbury Area Committee to launch 'Outdoor Dewsbury', a long-term initiative to get people outdoors and active, and enjoying the countryside, parks and green spaces on their doorstep in Dewsbury.
