Adrian Lythgo has been confirmed as the new chief executive of Kirklees Council.
Adrian Lythgo
Adrian steps up from his role as Director of Finance and Performance and replaces Rob Vincent, who recently accepted a government request to take over as chief executive at Doncaster.
Adrian (47) joined Kirklees last year and was responsible for the council’s change programmes.
He was previously an associate partner at KPMG in Leeds, holding a senior position in public sector assurance, advising business and providing services to local authorities, the NHS, universities and colleges.
Adrian said: “We are all acutely aware that these are difficult times for local government, but I am delighted to be given this opportunity.
“Kirklees has tremendous strengths on which to build, not least a workforce whose talent and dedication is matched by a commitment to providing high quality services.
“In Kirklees we are ready for the challenges ahead and we made early preparations for the cut in government funding so that every stage of our efficiencies programme would be carefully planned and managed.
“The towns and villages in our area combine pride in their heritage with an innovative, forward-thinking attitude. I like to think the council will continue to reflect that outlook, keeping people’s needs at the heart of everything it does and working closely with partners to achieve the right outcomes for our citizens.”
Since Rob Vincent’s departure Kirklees has had an interim chief executive in Paul Rogerson, who has been combining the role with his work as chief executive at Leeds City Council.
Adrian takes over at the beginning of August, having had his appointment confirmed by full council.
