Kirklees Council election results - May 5

The new composition of Kirklees Council has been announced today (Friday May 6) following the local election on May 5.

Labour – 27 seats, a gain of three seats from last year
Conservatives – 21 seats, which is a gain of two seats
Liberal Democrats – 14 seats, which represents a loss of six seats
Green Party - four seats, which is no change
Independent - three seats, which is a gain of one seat since last year.

The new councillors are:

James Blanchard (Almondbury, Liberal Democrat)
Donna Bellamy (Colne Valley, Conservative)
Cliff Preest (Dalton, Labour)
Darren O’Donovan (Dewsbury West, Labour)
Hilary Richards (Golcar,Labour)
Judith Hughes (Greenhead, Labour)
Edgar Holroyd-Doveton (Holme Valley North, Independent)
Tony Brice (Lindley, Conservative)
Lisa Holmes (Liversedge and Gomersal, Conservative)
Amanda Stubley (Batley East, Labour)
