- Retired in 1987 and lectured part-time until 1997.
- Served on the Environment Committee and the Social Services Committee.
- Served on the Holme Valley Parish Council from 1981.
- Member of the West Yorkshire Fire Authority.
- Vice-President of Huddersfield Giants.
- Died in 2008.
