Access to information
Corporate Information Management - 19 May 2005
leif.wilks@kirklees.gov.uk

If you require information from the Council, all you have to do is write (or send an email) describing the information you want, and giving a name and address for us to contact you. If we need more details from you in order to identify the information you want, someone will contact you.

There are a number of exemptions, which mean that there is some information that we can never disclose, and some which we may have to withhold if it is in the public interest to do so. If we withhold information we will tell you about your right to appeal.

Most information will be provided free of charge. However if the amount of information you request is very large or if it is likely to take more than about 18 hours to find and extract it, we may ask you to limit the scope of your request or to pay the full cost, or we may have to refuse

Once we are sure we understand what information you need, we will provide it within twenty working days. If we do not hold it, we will tell you.

It may be that a document that tells you what you need to know is already available. Try the Publication scheme.
